KTXL/FOX40 has an immediate opening for a Chief Photographer. We are looking for a strong, inspiring leader who knows how to motivate and continually evaluate a team of photographers by maintaining a positive, inclusive, accountable environment. The successful candidate will be a technical whiz who is not afraid to drive new ideas and always has an eye for quality and the ability to improve storytelling techniques.
Duties
- Coach photojournalists, including consistent critiques and collaboration
- Assist in hiring, training on news shooting techniques, editing and workflows
- Support and supervise special productions, including planning and execution field productions
- Assign, schedule, manage and maintain photojournalist schedules
- Manage and assign photographer gear and vehicle assignments
- Promote and ensure safe news gathering practices in the field
- Manage Final Cut Pro non-linear edit systems including training newsroom employees
- Manage IP and remote truck transmission including being readily available to troubleshoot issues
- Assist engineering in equipment acquisition, proposals and purchasing
- Various administration duties including news operations duties as needed
- Shoot, capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms
- Responsible for operating various news gathering equipment
- Responsible for drone program, operations and training
- Assist engineering with maintenance/inventory of field equipment and vehicles
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a News Videographer, previous management experience preferred
- Proven track record of leadership
- Must be proficient with Final Cut and non-linear editing systems, LIVE U, Sony cameras, satellite and microwave equipment
- Experienced in live field production broadcasts
- College degree in Journalism or related field preferred
- Must be able to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- Requires the ability to work well under the deadline pressure
- Must be able to collaborate with Operations and Engineering
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
