JOB TITLE: FULL TIME PRODUCTION LIGHTING DIRECTOR / TELEPROMPTER OPERATOR
DEPARTMENT: PRODUCTION
REPORTS TO: PRODUCTION MANAGER
DUTIES: Responsible for designing, programming, operating, maintaining and executing studio production and remote lighting productions. Operates lighting control console and programming of lighting. Experience in install, hang, focus and circuits of lighting equipment a must. Should have experience with teleprompter systems and news production operating systems. Perform all lighting cue checks before and after shows, and adjust as required. Replace, adjust and fix studio lighting fixtures. Oversee and coordinate studio lighting maintenance, repair and troubleshoot. Design lighting plans for studio and remote productions. Must be well versed in design programs, including Vectorworks. Contributes in all areas of studio support operations, including storage systems, inventory, set construction and maintenance. This position has a direct impact on the quality of broadcast presentation. Attention to detail and ability to facilitate professional lighting design a must.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5-7 years lighting experience in a major market. Successful candidates must demonstrate leadership ability and a proven track record in lighting and teleprompter operation. Must have good organization and communication skills. Experience required in the familiarization and basic knowledge of newsroom operations and production processes. Should be well versed in the operation of a wide variety of lighting instruments and PC based lighting control consoles, most specifically ETC ION. Knowledgeable in all areas of video and lighting with the ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise. Working knowledge of news operating systems including OPUS a plus. Computer skills should also include Microsoft Office/Outlook experience. Must be able to make quick decisions and give accurate instruction to stage personnel during live broadcasts. Applicants must be a member of IATSE or willing to join. Applicant must be willing to work varied shifts which may include: mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
