JOB TITLE: EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, AM
DEPARTMENT: NEWS
REPORTS TO: News Director
DUTIES: Oversee multiple newscasts for the #1 rated morning news in L.A.
Help implement, on a daily basis, the strategies developed by the News Director and Assistant News Director to improve the news product and increase viewership. Duties include leading a huge staff; assigning stories to reporters; working with producers on story selection, content and pace and flow of newscasts; keeping up with breaking news and leading daily meetings where story and coverage ideas are discussed and assigned. The candidate must work closely with the desk and have a good understanding of technical capabilities to include; experience in live satellite, dejero, microwave remotes and helicopter coverage.
REQUIREMENTS: College degree or equivalent related experience preferred. Minimum of five years experience as television News Executive Producer and/or News Director. We are looking for a leader who can build an effective team and one who understands the value of breaking news and accuracy. The EP of our news broadcasts must recognize and showcase the BIG stories of the day and be able to work with reporters to determine the direction of their stories and expectations. Must also handle BREAKING NEWS and keep anchors and producers informed of development/changes throughout the morning. The Morning EP also needs to have strong organizational skills and be able to perform and adjust under pressure. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential. Excellent copy-editing skills are also a must. Individual will be willing to participate in projects sponsored by the station to enhance its image or help the community. Must also be capable of interacting positively and productively with other employees all while understanding you are leading by example.
