JOB TITLE: EMERGING PLATFORMS AUDIO PRODUCER
DEPARTMENT: NEWS, Digital Media
REPORTS TO: Assistant News Director, Digital
The emerging platforms audio producer is responsible for producing native audio for KTLA's podcasting channels, Amazon Alexa, social media accounts and other emerging platforms. Producer must be able to select stories, gather elements and work closely with reporters and producers to quickly build platform-specific stories. Attention to detail along with a mastery of spelling, punctuation, grammar, print news writing and AP Style are a must. Producer must show excellence in audio-only storytelling with strong composition, timing and presentation, all while working within KTLA's voice and meeting the highest standards of journalism. Applicant must be able to integrate content with broadcast coverage and interact with assignment desk and television newscast producers. Knowledge of Adobe Audition, Final Cut X, Photoshop and WordPress are preferred.
Bachelor's degree and 3+ years experience in news and audio production. A mastery of audio editing is expected. Strong candidates will have a deep understanding of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and other emerging platforms. Must have excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written. Strong organizational skills, news judgment and staying up-to-date on current affairs are required. Detail-oriented, able to follow directions, ability to perform duties, work well with others and make independent decisions under extreme pressure. Experience in television news production, radio and podcasting strongly preferred. Business needs also require individual to be able to work various shifts and times, including early mornings and special events as needed.
