KLRU is seeking a General Manager for the award-winning program, Austin City Limits. Incumbent will be responsible for building a team and setting a path for the future of ACL, represent and manage the brand assets (trademark, production archives, etc.) on behalf of KLRU, generate revenue through sponsorship and licensing relationships, and direct the evolving series initiatives - including digital and online ventures, opportunities afforded by a new production venue, events and more.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages P/L for Austin City Limits enterprise.
• Develops and manages the execution of annual strategic and tactical plans for Austin City Limits, including distribution (broadcast, recordings, online, mobile), merchandising, licensing, and other enterprise activities.
• Manages relations with existing Series sponsors and recruits new sponsors when necessary, analyzing the market for the most advantageous prospects and developing sponsorship agreements.
• Identifies opportunities to license ACL assets and works closely with legal counsel to develop licensing agreements.
• Shares oversight of ACL’s production with the Series Producer, including but not limited to budgeting, contracts and planning.
• Manages relationships with PBS and recommends ways to increase series performance on PBS.
• Responsible for ACL partner relations, including co-producers, merchandise, record labels, corporate clients, digital partners, music industry and licensees.
• Primary staff support to ACL Management Committee of the KLRU Board of Directors
• Coordinates with KLRU's development staff to maintain and grow station’s ACL related philanthropic strategy, including events and Friends of ACL.
Knowledge and Skills required:
• At least 3-5 years of demonstrated success managing entertainment related ventures or programs, with preference given to experience in music, broadcast, or online content.
• Experience in, and understanding of, emerging digital business models and broadband/mobile music applications and opportunities.
• Demonstrated experience in entertainment industry licensing and business models, including rights management, merchandising, syndication, and sponsorship, among other disciplines
• Demonstrated strategic planning and marketing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams and manage multiple projects and partner relationships.
• Understanding of the public television system and broadcast production practices a plus.
• Experience working for and with not-for-profit organizations helpful, particularly experience with hybrid non-profit/for-profit collaborations or enterprises.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervises small intenal staff.
• Responsibility for leading teams with members drawn from different departments.
• Manages contract with series producer and other vendor and licensing agreements.
