Job Overview
PBS SoCal | KCET is seeking a creative Digital Content Intern for Summer 2022 to join our team and assist with creating and developing digital editorial content and strategies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public media and a desire to join a highly creative, fast-paced digital content team . The internship is for a total of 400 hours and the intern can work between 15-40 hours a week. However, the intern will need to begin and conclude the internship between September 1, 2022 through March 1, 2023. Additionally, the intern must be able to complete 300 hours of the internship in-person and may complete up to 100 hours of the internship remotely.
The Digital Content Intern will collaborate on creating articles and rich multimedia content, to support original programming slated to premiere Fall 2022 including Artbound, and other arts and cultural content including Los Angeles history, food, and travel content. The Intern will work in a fast-paced, highly creative team setting to produce original digital content that both supports and expands PMGSC’s objective to engage the public in innovative, entertaining, and transformative ways.
Minimum Qualifications
The intern should be engaged with digital media through websites and social media, and be familiar with content generators like Buzzfeed, Vox, and Tastemade. The intern should also be familiar with KCET and PBS So Cal and the mission of public media and be comfortable in sharing ideas in group meetings, be organized working with calendars, Sharepoint, and Google drive, communicate clearly and have the ability to work collaboratively. Editorial writing and editing as well as documentary experience is ideal, but not required. Additional qualifications include:
• Must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in a 4 year or community college (if graduating, the student must graduate by December 1, 2022)
• Reside in and/or attend school in Los Angeles County
• Must be able to attend an Art Summit in September 2022
• Must participate in at least 1 peer group (offered monthly) before completing the internship
