The Verve Music Group, the world's largest jazz recording company, is presently seeking a Contoller in the company’s Santa Monica, CA location.
The Verve Music Group includes the premier jazz label Verve, which focuses on traditional jazz; adult music label Verve Forecast; contemporary jazz label GRP; and Impulse!, which focuses on reissues of its famed catalog, which includes legendary artists such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and John Coltrane. The Controller is responsible for providing administrative support in a highly multi-task environment.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare monthly forecast presentations that will be used in senior level management meetings
* Prepare and submit monthly forecast income statement and balance sheet to Universal Music Group corporate finance
* Prepare monthly variance to budget commentary for actual results and forecast
* Load forecast into HFM for companywide consolidation
* Create various Excel based models for forecasting and ad hoc analysis
* Develop and maintain financial models to assist in forecasting
* Prepare project specific profit and loss statements in order to analyze business performance
* Create reports and utilize database tools to analyze sales, costs, and overall business performance
* Develop yearly fiscal plan
* Create year fiscal plan presentation
* Assist Senior management in various ad-hoc analyses
* Complete and/or assist in other monthly tasks and projects as needed
* Prepare Monthly Financial Statements for Management Review (working closely with the central accounting team)
* Prepare speculative project P&L’s to determine viability of project
* Manage the Accounts Payable Process
Job Requirements:
* BS/BA in Accounting or finance
* 5- 7 years of finance experience in the entertainment industry
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment
* Ability to learn new computer programs quickly
* Advanced proficiency in Excel
* Knowledge of HFM budgeting models
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Exceptional analytical approach to problem solving
* High level of business acumen required
* Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Strong customer/client service skillseting priorities
* Must be able to work under time constraints
* Ability to multi-task and juggle comp
* Ability to keep information confidential
* Must be self-directed and extremely well organized
