Tax Intern - Fall 2012

TAX: This tax internship offers exposure to tax compliance projects at the federal, state and local levels. It also offers exposure to business income tax and accounting concepts typical of publically held companies. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the preparation of monthly state filings, basic federal and state income tax returns, sales & use tax returns and local business tax filings. You will help track filing deadlines, prepare supporting schedules on Excel and write memos and response letters to government agencies. You will be trained on widely used accounting and tax software systems. You will learn basic accounting and tax concepts that will help prepare you for any entry level position whether a small company or large organization. You will work with professionals eager to teach and prepare you for a career in accounting.
QUALIFICATIONS
It is highly recommended the candidate have intentions of starting a career in public accounting. The candidate must receive school credit. There is a heavy focus on detailed work requiring superb analytical, communication and organization skills. Basic competency with Microsoft Excel is required. Sophomore level and completion of Accounting Principles 1 & 2 are required with a minimum GPA of 3.25 combined and within the major.
