Universal Music Group is currently seeking a License & Detection Coordinator in our Santa Monica, CA office location:
SUMMARY
The License and Detection Coordinator maximizes revenue development for the Company by ensuring detected uses are properly licensed. The Coordinator will monitor usage detections via the Tunesat service, securing media buys, cue sheets, video tapes and other supporting documentation to enhance the revenue generated by the collection of performance royalties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Maximize revenue development for the company by working in a coordinated effort with the Killer Tracks and FirstCom Sales Teams and UPPM Billing Department, clientele, Tunesat, and the performing right societies, BMI and ASCAP
* Gather detection data and compare with the specifics on licenses issued for the usage of the music into broadcast venues
* Obtain media buys, cue sheets and videotapes of the licensed programming from clients
* Package these combined elements and present them to BMI and ASCAP.
* Work with Account Executives in getting client licenses for the detected, but unlicensed uses
* Follow-up and follow-through with the performing rights societies so as to maximize the revenue returned to Killer Tracks and FirstCom for these licensed broadcast uses.
* Provide a reconciliation of synchronization licenses and performing rights statements
* Maintain a daily journal outlining each day's events, successes/challenges, opportunities/threats
* Maintain a database of unlicensed uses
* Other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of an Associate’s Degree
* Two to three years of successful administrative experience with a track record of consistently exceeding goals and expectations.
* Thorough working knowledge of music performing rights organizations.
* Excellent computer skills with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, (particularly Excel), internet applications and Windows based contact management software similar to the Company’s MusicPitch software.
* Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
* Strong attention to detail with an innate inquisitive quality.
* Demonstrate a strong customer focused aptitude with a polite and courteous manner.
* Superior work ethic and dynamic positive attitude to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to think and work independently while remaining flexible and adaptive to changes.
* Be able to evolve as the industry and technology evolve.
MENTAL / PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
Requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail and accuracy, problem solving skills, an innovative thinker, strong customer service skills and the ability to remain flexible and calm under pressure.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Works in office environment, on occasion will visit representatives from the performing rights organizations within their local areas or travel as needed to develop relationships and revenue opportunities.
