SEEKING: SENIOR CONCEPT ARTIST for our DEFIANCE, game
DEFIANCE™ is the first multi-platform shooter MMO, that in a ground-breaking entertainment experience, interconnects with a global television program on Syfy. The game combines the intense action of a console third-person shooter, with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart exudes the scope, story, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic.
Being developed for the PC, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, DEFIANCE unites the MMORPG and Shooter game genres across the most popular platforms.
Trion Worlds is looking for a Senior Concept Artist who will assist in the production of artwork that illustrates game concepts and ideas, defining the artistic design, aesthetics, and function for various project elements. The successful candidate will be responsible for sketching, line art, and full painting design formats.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Generate concept art digitally in order to communicate the artistic direction of environments pertaining to a game
Generate concept art at multiple levels: thumbnails, sketches, color comps, show pieces, loading screens, UI elements, diagrams, and visual representations
Meet production schedules and deadlines
Work closely with art team to develop concept artwork that defines the overall look and art style for the game
Work with art team to illustrate specific game elements and settings with regard to both their aesthetic qualities and functional needs
Actively participate in concept art and project meetings
REQUIREMENTS
4 years of industry experience as a Concept Artist
Experience working in the pre-production aspects of game development
Exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy
Superior eye for light, value, composition, color, staging, and detail in environmental design
Experience with the creation/design for sets or environments
Ability to carry an idea from the conceptual phase to a finished illustration
A keen eye for shape, form, structure, and silhouette in regard to illustration and design
Strong traditional art background including lighting, shading, color theory, etc.
Strong Photoshop or Painter skills
Creative passion for video games
Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Work/respond well under pressure
Ability to think critically and apply analytical skills in resolving complex issues
Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation
Quick mastery of proprietary tools and development processes
Ability to take direction and criticism
Meet deadlines designated for team projects
Professionalism and the ability to function well within a team
BFA or equivalent experience
