Financial Analyst -IHE (205784-033)
Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a Financial Analyst for its International Home Entertainment Group. The Financial Analyst is expected to have business knowledge of the designated territories and inform finance management of risks and issues. This individual will partner with finance management in the territories to:
* Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP.
* Ensure complete, accurate budgets and forecasts.
* Provide feedback to the territories with guidance from Home Office finance management.
* Participate in special projects and ad hoc activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Review and analyze territory and consolidated financial results including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, AR Aging, Return Reserve, Bad Debts Reserve, Inventory Reserve, and Sales Incentive Programs in accordance with US GAAP. At the conclusion of the analysis, the FA should be able to render opinion on reasonableness and address issues (if any).
* Review and analyze territory budgets / forecasts / mid-range plan for reasonableness, potential risks and opportunities.
* Analyze revenue & gross profit by title (Actual vs. Budget, Forecast, Flash, and prior periods) and present the reasons for the variances.
* Participate in special projects/ad hoc finance activities and make recommendations to IHE Finance Team on process improvements.
* Coordinate with territories, Profit Owners, SAP team, to ensure profit of each title is allocated to the appropriate Owner Profit Center within SPE.
* Perform account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries relating to Home Office.
* Document Home Office accounting processes and procedures.
* Review, analyze, and confirm intercompany balances.
* Perform Home Office Monitoring Controls in compliance with SOX requirements.
* Review territory statutory audit reconciliation and ledger for differences between US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
* Respond to various requests for information from other areas of the Company, including Corporate, Home Entertainment Management, Marketing, and Participations.
* Assist in the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal/external reporting (Census Forms, MPAA, etc).
Required Skills:
* B.S. degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics.
* Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, experience with SAP and Essbase preferred.
* 1-2+ years public/or private accounting required (international experience preferred, but not required).
* Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent project management, organizational, decision-making and problem solving skills.
* Ability to multi-task, meet all deadlines and quickly grasp new concepts.
* Understanding of US GAAP accounting and financial policies and principles.
* Ability to operate effectively in a cross functional team environment.
* Strong follow-through on all projects; ability to bring projects to timely completion.
* Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
