PURPOSE: Reporting to the Vice President Digital Operations, the Product Manager will be responsible for the ideation, design and creation of cutting edge new products (to be added to NBCU’s existing product portfolio for the E! Online) delivering compelling consumer experiences. As a key member of the Digital Operations group the Product Manager will work with internal business and brand strategists to define the product vision, fully explore and exploit platform capabilities, gather and prioritize product requirements, and communicate detailed requirements to the product development team. The Product Manger will also play an integral role throughout the product life cycle including, ensuring best in breed design, marketplace currency and relevance, flawless functionality, and management through development, delivery and support.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver products and projects on time
• Develop project plans and be able to effectively manage scope
• Envision, structure, design, implement development of, and continuously improve new products for digital platforms including web (PC / Mobile), mobile applications (iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows 7), mobile TV, interactive TV, social networks and other emerging content formats
• Monitor the competitive landscape and maintain detailed analytics and reports and other support documents that identify opportunities and support product direction; facilitate efficient and accurate information sharing between key stakeholder and constituents
• Follow strategic direction of Digital Business leads and make forward thinking, well developed, fully researched and implementable product recommendations.
• Deliver complete conceptual development, discovery, research, business case, technical requirements, market positioning and launch strategy for new products.
• Fully articulate new product design, architecture and functionality including bringing to bear deep user experience knowledge
• Create well crafted, elegant product design deliverables including wire frames and detailed and fully implementable functionalities.
• Work closely with marketing team on messaging product rollouts
• Ensure formal product and project processes are followed, including PRDs, MRDs, and adequate specs are completed and communicated
• Gather business requirements and customer needs from key stakeholders and translate into a best-in-class consumer experiences
• Work closely with operations, technology and development teams to plan and launch projects on time, on budget and on spec
• Provide clearly communicated status and milestones to executive stakeholders on a regular basis
• Continuously monitor and assess product performance (revenue, usage, etc.) and user feedback and provide solutions for enhancement, improvement and product extensions.
• Remain up to date on the latest digital platform developments (HTML5, Windows 8, iOS, Android, etc)
• Maintain a deep understanding of all emerging digital media platforms and articulate developments, trends and opportunities to business development executives
• Remote coverage will be required. Some weekend and late-night/early morning hours needed due to web operations and deployment requirements
• Additional duties and tasks assigned as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• BA/BS required; MBA strongly preferred.
• Minimum 2 years digital media industry experience with strong understanding of mobile product development, web development, and a strong proclivity for new and emerging technologies.
• A proven track record of leading the definition, launch and ongoing operations of consumer facing online and mobile media products and/or services.
• Goal-oriented, able to not only conceptualize products but also manage and optimize them throughout their lifecycle
• Deeply immersed in online media and consumer behaviors.
• Extensive experience defining and developing user experiences for online and mobile platforms.
• Strong analytical abilities to develop business cases and models to support product creation, and define and track operational metrics.
• Ability to make decisions under tight timing and pressure.
• Be solution-oriented and have a proven ability to innovate.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and develop various products at different stages
• Must have excellent written and communication skills, and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail.
• Broad knowledge of and interest in Entertainment.
• Must be highly proficient with MS Office software (Power Point, Excel, Word).
• Must work well in a team, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment.
