Position Summary:
The Great Courses is looking for creative Final Cut Pro Editors to assemble video, graphics and still images into a cohesive educational course. The Editor's goal is to maximize the educational experience for the customer by working collaboratively with the Producer and the Graphic Artist on the planning, design, and execution of visual editing decisions in alignment with company quality standards and the completion of the course material on time and within budget. Projects are anticipated to start on 1/2/12 and last several weeks. Candidates must work onsite for this position (second shift).
Major Responsibilities
• Assembling video, graphics and still images into a cohesive program in Final Cut Pro
• Working with materials correctly portray both the information and the emotion of a project
• Working as part of a production team
• Staying on schedule
• Working directly with producers and graphic artists to assemble and create and manipulate visual elements
• Image manipulation and color correction of all assigned projects
• Be a good communicator and able to take direction well
• Maintain a close working relationship with their producer, graphic artist and technical engineer
• Be able to work in a fast-paced production team environment and be able to come up with creative solutions to challenges
Ideal Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
• A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on-experience as a video editor for a post house/television studio/or other video production
• Advanced Final Cut Pro editing experience
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• Proven ability to work within a set schedule and time constraints without sacrificing creativity and quality of final product
• Ability to give advice and take direction
• Working knowledge of Photoshop
• Able to use both MAC and PC computer applications
• Knowledge of any of the following a plus: Motion, Aftereffects, Maya3D, and Adobe Illustrator.
