This is a Full Time Job
Full-time floor director to stage manage daily newscasts and other original productions, which may include special events, Creative Services, Sales and Community Affairs productions. Responsible for all stage coordination on and off camera. Responsibilities include stage preparation prior to newcasts, cueing talent and taking verbal direction from the control room. Responsible for individual stage segments and coordinating studio and staging requirements with producers. Responsible for technical interface between production crew and producers and meets daily with producers and directors to determine needs of upcoming segments, identifying production elements including props and set furnishings. Oversees second stage manager and grip and assigns daily duties. Organizes and supervises set changes and maintains prop inventory. During telecast the Stage Manager is totally responsible for the running of the show on stage, including production cues, set changes, placement of props and talent location. Responsible for overseeing overall condition of stages, ensuring that the studio is in a constant state of readiness for broadcast at all times. Contributes in all areas of studio support operations, including storage systems, inventory, set maintenance and lighting. Responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date marks on the stage and maintaining the integrity of all set elements and dressings.
Three to five years professional experience in live television stage managing. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be an effective leader and be able to motivate people. Needs to work well under the pressure of a live broadcast. Should have a strong fundamental understanding of video and audio production equipment and capabilities. Computer skills should include Microsoft Office/Outlook experience. Must be able to make quick decisions and give accurate instructions to stage personnel during live broadcasts. Prop and grip experience a plus. Works well as a member of a team. Must be a member of IATSE or willing to join.
