Los Angeles, CAThis is a Part Time Job
We are looking for a producer for a short (30 min) quirky comedy written and directed by Richard E. Stark starring Jared Hillman, Steven Christopher Parker and Emmy nominated Shelley Berman.
My Son's Big Bris is a quirky comedy about an anxious first time father on the day of his baby's circumcision. The film follows his zany struggles to deal with his neurotic Jewish family while preventing any possible mishap that could jeopardize his son's private parts! The film is made up of an ensemble cast of hilarious, unforgettable characters and centers around a unique, age-old Jewish tradition that can be both nerve-wracking and profound. At its core, it's a surprisingly poignant story about a man overcoming his fears of not being ready for fatherhood.
The film is being made up of a very talented ensemble cast starring Jewish comedic legend and Emmy nominated Shelley Berman of Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David's father on the show), Don't Mess With The Zohan (Adam Sandler's father in the film), Meet The Fockers, Boston Legal, LA Law etc. Also starring Jared Hillman, guest star/recurring on Joan of Arcadia, Without a Trace, Hannah Montana, Gilmore Girls, Stacked, Psych etc. As well as Steven Christopher Parker (Rebound, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine and ER).
The casting directors are Paul Palo and Linda Phillips Palo. Linda Phillips Palo was the casting director for numerous great films including Francis Ford Coppola's Jack and The Rainmaker, George Lucas' Radio Land Murders and Sophia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides for which Ms. Palo won the Artios, the highest casting honor.
We are currently approaching other named talent for some of the remaining roles. The film will be shot on the Red camera. Upon completion we will enter the film into the festival circuit including major festivals such as Sundance.
Mr. Stark is an award-winning emerging writer/director out of USC. His work features an original and unique style of comedy in which quirky character-driven stories are told with strong realistic performances and rendered with expressive, imaginative visuals. We plan to use the film to promote interest in his two original quirky comedy feature scripts (in addition to a feature version of My Son's Big Bris) and the three TV show concepts he's created. Mr. Stark is hoping to put a team together around this film that he can bring with him on future projects.
You can learn more about the film's story, characters, and the people behind it at MySonsBigBris website. Click on Press to view several newspaper articles written about Mr. Stark and the film.
We're looking forward to hearing from you and discussing the possibility of working together. If you'd like to read the script, please let us know and we'd be happy to email you a copy. This is a nonprofit short but some pay is available.
