The VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION is responsible for overseeing the physical production needs for ITV America non-scripted/reality for the West Coast. This role will work closely with development and programming executives, external producers and buyers (distributors, streamers and networks) and internal departments to oversee all aspects of production management.
The ideal candidate has had experience on the production company side as well as freelance experience in the field as an EIC and/or Line Producer working on large scale formats for broadcast networks/streamers and is an excellent problem solver with a proven track record of managing high-end budgets; must have excellent communication skills and be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, production environment. Comprehensive working knowledge of union contracts (IA, WGA, DGA and SAG-AFTRA) is required, as well as a complete understanding of production processes, including budgeting, scheduling, cost tracking and reporting.
The role will report to the SVP, Production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with internal departments and development labels to build budgets and production plans for reality formats that are in development or greenlit (including schedules, detailed line by line budget, cash flow and overall approach to physical production)
• For projects in production, the VP will engage and oversee the freelance PM team for the series and ensure they follow ITV policies and procedures. Regular review of cost reports, vendor and crew deal negotiations, tax credit analysis and any necessary guild, legal and insurance requirements.
• Ensure that productions are on-schedule and on-budget and identify potential problem areas as early as possible. Make set visits as needed.
• Establish strong relationships with Network clients and handle all network communication and negotiations relating to the production slate.
• Establish a strong roster of vendor and staff/crew relationships for a broad range of productions.
• Consult with Business Affairs on appropriate terms for Above the Line talent
• Identify advantageous shooting locales for projects in development and pre-production.
• Manage communications across internal departments and series freelance teams
• Work with legal to negotiate vendor agreements, troubleshoot production challenges and maintain
• Work with SVP to streamline production management systems
• Develop and mentor PM team to promote growth and opportunity
BACKGROUND & QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10+ years of experience in production company executive roles and/or freelance EIC role across large scale productions for broadcast networks, streamers etc.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational.
• Ability to operate with significant autonomy and discretion.
• Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage complex network negotiations while maintaining strong client relationships
• Proficient in Movie Magic budgeting for unscripted series ranging from 300k/ep to over 2m/ep - both field and studio productions.
• Strong cost reporting skills and ability to constantly estimate completion costs throughout a project.
• Ability to be hands-on as needed, take ownership of projects and be accountable for projects.
• Strong knowledge of production Risk, Safety and Security practices and ability to recognize gaps and implement mitigation procedures as and when needed.
• Experience with sustainable and green production best practices appreciated
