Rights and Clearances Coordinator
ITV America (ITVA) is the largest independent producer of non-scripted content in America through its production companies Leftfield Pictures, Sirens Media, Loud TV, Outpost Entertainment, and ITV Entertainment. ITVA is a reality television powerhouse with hundreds of hours of cutting-edge and innovative unscripted programming, airing on various major networks. We produce leading content including Hell's Kitchen, The Four, Pawn Stars, Fixer Upper, and Real Housewives of NJ, just to name a few.
Based in ITV's New York office this role will report to the Director, Rights and Clearances.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Clearance point-person for field, post and deliverables for assigned productions
• Collaborate with Field team while in the Field to clear content in advance of Post. Reach out to copyright holders to negotiate and secure rights to any 3rd party content that needs to be licensed for the production. Secure quotes, work with PM to keep within budget parameters.
• Collaborate with Field team while in the Field on any customized releases needed while in the Field.
• Help to trouble shoot any issues that might arise while in the Field. Set up weekly calls to check in periodically.
• Once in Post, reviews multiple offline cuts of each episode and all related short form content going to the Network (rough, fine, pic lock, promos, super tease, bonus content, digital asks, etc)
• Issue spot and document all issues, flags, concerns in an R&C show tracker to be shared with Field, Production, Story, PM, Post, Music and EP's. Review content to flag a myriad of concerns from copyright, trademark, music, S&P, privacy, etc.
• Review content to ensure all necessary releases have been obtained
• Document S&P bleep and blur flags according to department and Network guidelines within the R&C show tracker.
Partner with legal to approve questionable content and/or receive editorial directives
• Notify Story and Post teams of edit changes due to possible legal or outstanding clearance issues
• Secure Rights waivers, if needed, from the Network at Fine Cut.
• Researches options for Story team and pursue licensing content based on show needs for all Movie excerpts, TV show excerpts, stock footage, photos, newspaper headlines, magazine covers, social media branding, various trademarks as needed in Post.
• Partners with PM to ensure that all contractual credit obligations are met within each production.
• Partner with Post and sit in on blur screenings to do a final issue spot before Online begins.
• Partner with PM to tracks down outstanding releases that were not acquired by the field team
• Maintain R&C show folders on the server as a database for production releases.
• Fully-Execute releases
• Responsible for paper deliverables that are uploaded to various Network portals and correspond to Network deliverable packets of what is owed to the Network and when.
• Partner with Network Ad Sales, Standards and Practices, Rights and Legal at the Network to help broker any questionable content and verify with the Network prior to finalizing in Post.
• Partner with Finance to ensure all Rights bibles, Wrap bibles, are approved by the Network in a timely manner.
• Participate in all Milestones meetings with Finance to ensure we are reaching our Milestones and able to invoice accordingly. Work with Finance to resolve any delays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2-3 years experience in TV production preferably in Rights and Clearances, Standards and Practices, Legal and Business Affairs and or a paralegal role.
• Strong typing skills; MAC proficient with solid skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must
• Able to multi-task and have excellent follow-through
• Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, organize and establish administrative procedures
• Ability to handle confidential information and interact professionally with high-level executives, clients, and talent
• Degree qualified or equivalent experience
