Position at Industrial Light & Magic
This role undertakes all coordination and business engagement activities relating to the arrangement of technical training, new starter training, learning and development activities, production training and enrichment and speaker events. Working closely with the Talent Managers on the training needs of their client groups and the global Studio Talent Group partners, the role is wide ranging and expected to engage across all areas of the business as well as with global and Disney partners.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Working with line managers, identify training and development needs for all staff across all departments. Feedback exact requirements to studio management, HR, Talent Management and STG Leadership.
• Coordinate all training and development activities for the London studio, working closely with the SF based Studio Talent Group, including scheduling courses, attendees, conference rooms/classrooms, researching and coordinating equipment moves/purchases and repairs/replacements.
• Run regular training meetings with Talent Management group to pick up on needs, map out training plans and schedules to facilitate training arrangements as required.
• Undertake all aspects of newhire training coordination with Talent Managers, trainers and mentors.
• Run Newhire Induction as needed.
• Coordinate Production training programming, including on-boarding and professional development classes.
• Coordinate Enrichment training programming, scheduling sculpting and drawing classes as well as other artistic classes.
• Working alongside HR, plan and schedule all softskill training as identified by the HRBP and Sr HRM.
• Help Trainers facilitate classes as needed.
• Maintain training database and calendar, ensuring all courses and events are entered and accounted for.
• Update the Studio Talent Group website and other promotional materials, as needed.
• With Sr HRM, plan and budget for all training activities for the year ahead - monitor and record all training costs incurred.
• Distribute training evaluation surveys, generate feedback reports, and prepare reports for management on training statistics.
• Proactively keep up to date with the latest thinking on training and development methods and techniques and bringing forth ideas and recommendations as to their application in the London studio.
• Manage the reference library – proactively market it to the studio and ensure books are returned etc.
• Manage all training equipment.
• Working with the Emerging Talent Specialist, support emerging talent programmes e.g. Internships and Graduates, as needed.
• Assist with special projects as needed, including liaising with STG on global presentations and internal speakers.
Job Requirements
Education
/ Experience:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification.
• Prior experience of working within a Training and Development team would be desirable.
Required Skills
/ Competencies:
• Experience of working in Technical training demonstrating a strong interest in creative technologies.
• Understanding of talent management, and workforce with the ability to adapt traditional approaches to client and overall Studio needs.
• Ability to collaborate and proactively define and execute partnering opportunities with HR and business partners.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects that cut across multiple business units.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with a proven ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organisation.
• Highly innovative and creative in approach to accomplish work.
• Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Preferred Skills
/ Competencies:
• An interest in and understanding of VFX industry
• Strong Talent/Development background
• Experience in project management
Technical Skills:
• Competent use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote and G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Drive).
• Experience of compiling data and producing reports.
