Required Skills:
Overall responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting for IMAX Film business including but not limited to film assets, revenue and expenses in the areas of Digital Remastering (DMR), the film fund, film distribution (documentaries), and post production billing and expenses. Requires leading a team of direct reports in Sheridan Park and Playa Vista offices.
What you'll be doing:
Overall accountability for accounting, analysis and reporting of all segments of the Film business, delegating as much as possible and reviewing and approving the work of the film team. For the more complex transactions, to meet deadlines, the role is hands on and submits work to the Director for approval
Coaches the team on film accounting procedures, giving direction in terms of documenting accounting transactions to meet on-going Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and reporting.
Proactively recommends and implements new or changed controls and procedures if necessary.
Strategic approach to new film business initiatives that includes a flexible approach, requiring project management skills and effective resource management
Supervision of direct reports - coaching, developing, ensuring goals and objectives are met and align with corporate objectives
Drive strong collaborative working relationships and processes with Playa Vista departments including Marketing, Legal, Post Production, and Distribution
What we're looking for:
Minimum 5 years' experience in finance with at least 2 years supervision experience; CPA designation
Experienced in working in a film production accounting environment would be considered an asset
Working knowledge of US GAAP
Advanced Excel, including pivot tables, macros and advanced excel formulas such as SUMIFS, VLOOKUP
Working experience in SAP is a strong asset
