Part Time Unpaid Internship
General Description:
The Basketball Analytics Intern is responsible for coordinating and integrating the field of analytics into the day-to-day functioning of the basketball operations Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
• Prepare research for Basketball Operations
• Collect data from databases, and external sources
• Analyze data and summarize key findings
• Build software tools
• Support internal software systems, including both, front and back-end web development.
• General support of the Basketball Operations Department.
• Demonstrates our One Team philosophy of Passion, Accountability, Customer Focus, and Teamwork.
Minimum qualifications:
• College student or recent graduate preferred
• Must be ambitious, organized, professional, mature, analytical, and deeply detail-oriented
• Prior experience in related discipline.
• Intermediate to strong knowledge of basic statistics and the ability to communicate that knowledge to others that do not possess the same statistical background.
• Experience with varied programming languages, particularly SQL, Node, JS, and Python.
• Experience with large data sets is an advantage.
• Interest and familiarity with basketball and terminology.
• Knowledge of GIT or similar Version Control Systems.
Physical & mental requirements:
• The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
• The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
• Must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
• Must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
