Manager, Human Resources , Dei & Talent Acquisition

Position Summary:
This position will play a critical and strategic role in defining, building, strengthening, and
supporting diversity, equity and inclusion as a cultural and foundational piece across all Astros
businesses. In conjunction with DEI work, this role will drive strategy for talent
acquisition/onboarding/retention providing support to managers in the development of a diverse
candidate pool.
Additionally, partnering with the VP, Human Resources, to establish ongoing measurables for
tracking progress against strategic DEI initiatives, recruiting initiatives and ongoing talent
development.
Essential Functions:

• Lead the development and implementation of DEI strategy that includes initiatives, programs
and processes focused on the enhancement of a diverse workforce and cultural awareness in alignment
with our mission, vision and values. Using data to guide on areas of success and areas of
opportunity.
• Responsible for all full-cycle recruitment efforts (across all businesses); in addition to
researching and implementing hiring methods and trends.
• Develop an effective pipeline of key talent sourcing as succession planning needs dictate by
establishing relationships with colleges, trade schools and other programs to develop the future
workforce.
• Facilitates and manages new hire orientation and continually improves the presentation and
delivery of onboarding materials.
• Identify trends in DEI and recruiting; proactively look for opportunities to improve the
employee experience. Managing recruiting and hiring practices that reflect and maintain a diverse
workplace.
• Create strategic internal partnerships and work collaboratively across departments to create
deeper cultural awareness and social sensitivity – this could include, but is not limited to:
creating a more equitable hiring process, establish educational opportunities through learning and
development/talent development platforms and programs and ensuring organizational objectives are
considered with an eye towards Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
• Creates a standard approach to talent acquisition through the use of scorecards and other
tools to assure fair and consistent processes for hiring are followed.
• Files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO
regulations.• Maintains recruiting metrics (time to fill open positions, cost per hire and other relevant
data points).
• Actively engages in the continuous improvement of human resources processes/procedures and
current HR programs.
• Understand applicable governmental and evaluation of HR metrics, while making recommendations
to improve organizational effectiveness.
• Assists with the rollout of updated or new HR program and initiatives across the company.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills:
• An understanding of HR functions and best practices.
• Ability to build effective relationships with staff at all levels of business and work well
within a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate difficult
conversations and concepts in an understanding and empathetic manner.
• Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion and diplomacy.
• Knowledgeable of anti-racism, anti-oppression, social justice and other current social ails
that could impact the employee population and/or workplace.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to be flexible, adaptable and able to work
under pressure handling multiple and competing demands. Strong attention to detail.
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in the platforms of Outlook,
Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Sharepoint).
• Prioritize daily issues, tasks and projects in a faced-paced environment.
• Comfortable working independently; self-starter with a strong work ethic and sense of
urgency.
• Experience with UKG Pro is a plus.
Education
and/or Experience:
• A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field and/or equivalent number of
years of experience.
• 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
• HR credential (SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred.
• Bilingual – English & Spanish preferred.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office

Travel
Some out-of-area and overnight travel will be required to support assigned business units.
