Responsible for creating and enforcing workflows and managing facilities and editorial staff within the post department. Oversee the completion and delivery of all materials to networks and clients including final program masters and deliverables.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Post Production Operations
• Create and enforce the naming system for project files and documents on the server, as well as media naming systems to work in concert with the ISIS/ databases.
• Manage and maintain all post production facilities and equipment. Work with outside vendors on upgrades, repairs, and maintenance.
• Process and track post vendor invoices and agreements, as related to budget lines.
• Assist EIC with development of budgets and schedules for new projects.
• Oversee final program review of master sequences and final audio mixes/QC.
• Communicate with network/client on all technical, post, and delivery needs.
Post Production Staffing
• Recruit, hire, schedule, and manage all editorial staff.
• Provide new hire orientation to help ensure consistent standards and communicate workflow expectations.
• Track attendance and payroll timecards for all editorial staff.
• Maintain edit shift projections and submit bi-weekly reports to EIC and Production Management.
Network Deliverables
• Oversee all post and technical deliverables including masters (texted, textless, promos, etc.), audio files/stems, music cue sheets, graphics, production elements, and raw/source footage among others.
• Coordinate Closed Captioning of program masters, as necessary.
• Oversee original music composition, when applicable.
• Complete final inventory with networks/clients including confirmation that all deliverables, masters, media, and all other file-based materials are received and passed quality control.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Must have a Bachelors Degree in Communications or related field, and two to five years of Post Production/Media management experience. In-depth knowledge of Avid and post-production technology including 4K is required. Experience in documentary and reality television a plus.
Computer Skills:
Must be competent utilizing Apple Computers and Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Preview, Network Client Sites, Avid Media Composer, Avid Symphony, and Avid ISIS. Knowledge of After Effects and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task, and prioritize in order to meet deadlines. Must also have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Able to be adaptable to changes in the workplace, have analytical skills and problem-solving ability. Must be detail oriented and organized.
