Summer Intern - Content Production
Heirloom Diet
Remote, USThis is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
THE ROLE
We are looking for a Content Production intern to support the production of social media content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts. You will work closely with our content lead to bring the Heirloom Diet story to life in a voice that is warm, science-backed, and deeply accessible.
This is a hands-on, creative role. You will be making things that people actually watch, share, and save.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Edit short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts using CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar tools
• Cut longer founder-led videos into tight, high-impact clips that retain the brand voice
• Design thumbnails, carousel graphics, and visual assets in Canva or Adobe Express
• Write and refine captions that balance education, storytelling, and a clear call to action
• Help maintain and execute the monthly content calendar across platforms
• Monitor engagement metrics and flag what is resonating and what is not
• Stay current on food, wellness, and slow-living content trends and bring ideas to the team
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Currently enrolled in a degree program in media production, communications, marketing, nutrition, food science, or a related field
• Comfortable with CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar video editing tools
• Some experience with Canva or graphic design basics
• A genuine interest in food, wellness, ancestral living, or the slow-living/homesteading space
• Strong instincts for storytelling and what makes someone stop scrolling
• Ability to take brand direction and work independently in a remote environment
• Bonus: familiarity with the hygge philosophy, traditional homemaking, or real food culture
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this internship, you will be able to:
1. Build and execute a content calendar for a multi-platform social media brand, understanding how platform-specific formats (Reels vs. TikTok vs. Shorts) require different creative approaches for the same underlying content
2. Edit short-form video with intentionality and strategy, understanding how pacing, hooks, and visual tone drive retention and sharing behavior
3. Translate a brand's mission and voice into visual and written content, developing the skill of staying on-brand across formats without becoming formulaic
4. Understand how educational content, storytelling, and promotional content work together in a content funnel and how to balance all three without the content feeling like an ad
5. Read and interpret basic social media analytics to identify what content is working, form a hypothesis about why, and apply that learning to future content decisions
6. Experience what it looks like to build a content strategy at the startup level - with real constraints, real audiences, and real stakes - which is fundamentally different from academic or agency environments
7. Develop a portfolio of published, real-world content in the food, wellness, and lifestyle space that reflects your skills and your values

Additional Information
Heirloom Diet is a mission-driven food and wellness brand founded by Nikole, a biochemist, regulatory scientist, and ancestral food advocate. The company is built around the core belief that the food your great-grandmother ate was medicine, and it aims to help people understand the changes in the food supply, their implications for health, and how to return to eating in a way that their bodies recognize. Operating as a small, early-stage team, Heirloom Diet focuses on the intersection of food science, mental wellness, and modern homemaking, providing a ground-floor opportunity to grow with a brand dedicated to meaningful work.
