Very Local, Hearst Television's streaming platform, is seeking a Videographer to be a key member of the production team in charge of creating episodic content.
As a Videographer, you must be a consummate visual storyteller, able to collaborate with EPs and Producers to shape the look, feel, and visual style of various episodic series. The ideal candidate will be a passionate partner to team leaders endeavoring to tell stories in innovative ways, and an excellent coach who will challenge and inspire the team as a whole. In addition to pre-production and on-set responsibilities, the ideal candidate will support operations by coordinating crews and gear rentals, maintaining our internal equipment inventory, and making informed equipment recommendations by keeping up on the latest filmmaking technologies. Travel is required.
This position reports to Manager, Production.
Job responsibilities:
• Work with the creative team to develop treatments and boards based on direction.
• Develop effective relationships with all departments and crews to ensure daily communication, troubleshoot issues, and convey potential delays.
• Determine on-set gear requirements, i.e. camera, lighting, electrical, grip.
• Shoot content that meets series' needs and guidelines.
• Oversight and accountability for quality control on photography/video created within the team.
• Partner with crew on set to make sure production is running smoothly.
• Operate and direct camera movement.
• Provide creative input on set.
• Complete all tasks in a safe manner .
• Maintain Inventory.
• Properly assess and complete minor repairs to equipment when necessary.
• Provide expertise on equipment recommendations.
• Order and test lighting and camera equipment.
• Light editing (Adobe Premiere).
• Continuously meet deadlines.
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5 years narrative/entertainment industry production experience.
• Can work across departments and collaborate with all teams.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Creative visual thinker.
• Solutions-oriented and resilient; approaches challenges and roadblocks with ideas.
• Extensive hands-on knowledge of cinematography, composition, lighting, camera, lenses, and sound equipment.
• Experience in the major lines of camera bodies and brands.
• Technical camera operating experience.
• Expert in lighting interviews in any location or environment.
• Can execute effective content and creative concepts.
• Excellent management skills to direct internal staff, outside vendors, and partners.
• Must be able to mediate problems to arrive at the best solution for all involved.
• Computer skills, including Adobe, Microsoft and Google Suites.
• Knowledge of AirTable is a plus.
• Reality TV experience is a plus.
• Camera or Grip and Lighting Rental House Experience is a plus.
• Be comfortable driving large vehicles.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• Ability to take constructive feedback well and provide creative solutions.
