WTAE-TV,
the Hearst-owned ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA is looking for a dynamic
reporter to join Pittsburgh's Action News 4 in one of the nation's most highly
competitive television markets. Extensive, active and creative live shot
experience is a must along with excellent news judgment, exceptional writing
skills, ability to break news and a highly engaged presence on all digital
platforms. The successful candidate will join a team of talented and passionate
journalists who come to work every day pitching topically-relevant stories that
have impact in our viewers' lives.
Job Responsibilities:
• Contributing
hard news enterprise story ideas every day.
• Building
a base of local news sources in order to generate stories.
• Gathering
and delivering vo's, vo/sots, packages and ENG/SNG/TVU live shots for daily
newscasts, WTAE.com and other digital platforms.
• Able
to juggle multiple stories and projects at once, demonstrate exceptional
time-management skills by meeting all deadlines.
• Participating
in station-sponsored events both at the station and out in the community.
• Using
ENPS to write scripts.
• Provide
coverage of major stories for other Hearst and ABC Affiliates.

Experience
Requirements:
• At
least two years' experience reporting in a medium to large market preferred.
• Related
military experience will be considered.
Qualifications
Requirements:
• Work
varied shifts – early mornings, late nights, holidays and weekends included.
• Deal
with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
• Can
work in all weather conditions.
• Has
a valid driver's license, can drive large vehicles over long distances, and a
clear driving record.
• Apply
management feedback and critiques in order to improve on-air performance.
Education:
• Bachelor's
Degree preferred.
• Equivalent
military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) and associated experience will be considered.
