WCVB-TV is looking for a Public Affairs Producer.
Responsibilities
include control room producer, producing video segments, hard news as well as features, for weekly magazine program CityLine. Production responsibilities for Public Service Announcements and Editorials and carrying out various associated roles and responsibilities for WCVB Public Affairs Department.
Specific Functions:
CityLine
• Research and develop story ideas appropriate for CityLine magazine program.
• Schedule interviews and location shooting for stories.
• Secure permission for locations and oversee on-location shooting.
• Conduct off-camera interviews with subjects for magazine segments.
• Log tapes and locate other video, film, photographs or music that might enhance the story.
• Develop thorough edit plan for each segment.
• Oversee video editing.
• Work with host on the recording of stand-ups and voice-overs.
• Write scripts for stories.
• Serve as control room producer during weekly CityLine taping.
• Manage CityLine interns.
• Oversee and manage CityLine social media; including cross promotion on targeted local media.
Public Service and Editorials:
• Coordinate production of PSA's in conjunction with WCVB's nonprofit partners including securing partnership agreements, gathering production images from nonprofit partners, writing scripts for PSA's scheduling talent for PSA standups.
• Serve as production editor and control room producer for Editorials.
• Scheduling Editorials for air, posting Editorials on wcvb.com.
• Carry out other public service duties as assigned.
Minimum
Education:
• College Degree
Minimum Experience:
• Three to five years of television, film and/or videotape field production experience, and familiarity with videotape editing.
• Experience in Control Room production required.
Special Knowledge:
• Requires writing skills and other journalism skills.
• Also requires flexibility, ability to work on schedule and work well with people.
• Sense of creativity is essential.
Supervisory Responsibility:
• Oversees technicians in shooting and editing stories.
• Coordination with Control Room crew to manage all aspects of weekly CityLine taping.
Internal:
• Regularly coordinates production activities with Production Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Station On-air Talent, Creative Services and Traffic Department and other station departments as needed.
