Hearst Television's Washington News Bureau is seeking a creative photographer/editor to join its Washington Bureau. Candidates should excel at creating visually compelling television, and be capable of producing multi-platform coverage, versatile and tech-savvy.
Candidates should have extensive video shooting experience, strong editing skills, proficiency in lighting, exceptional time-management and organizational abilities and effective communication skills.
The Washington Bureau provides national, political, and breaking news coverage for Hearst Television stations reaching 26 media markets across 39 states as well as other Hearst platforms.
Job Responsibilities:
• Shoot and edit video and graphic-based stories on tight deadlines
• Responsible for technical set-up, shooting and transmission of live remotes (cellular, fiber, satellite)
• Work with a team of producers and correspondents to produce content driven stories and visually compelling coverage of complicated issues and topics
• Coordinate and manage video elements from various sources with differing usage rules
• Work with analog catalog systems and file-based servers for day-to-day coverage as well as archival video storage.
Experience Requirements:
• Must have non-linear editing experience.
• Experience with a wide range of ENG cameras and other news gathering devices and accompanying audio equipment.
• Previous newsroom experience preferred.
• Related military experience will be considered.
• Knowledge of Adobe creative suite. Adobe premiere experience a plus.
Qualifications Requirements:
• Can easily carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Able to work in all weather conditions and be willing to travel on short notice.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a near-perfect driving record.
• Be able to work in pressure environments where being a self-starter and solid organizational skills allow you to make quick decisions in sometimes difficult working conditions.
Education:
• College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or related field preferred
• Equivalent military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) and associated experience will be considered.
