Hearst-owned ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA has an immediate opening for a
Meteorologist. We are the #1-rated news
station in Pittsburgh and we got there, in part, by consistently winning
extreme weather coverage with the help of tools from both WSI and Baron. We are
looking for a skilled communicator who has a passion for the weather and telling
weather stories. Being able to utilize
the latest weather technology and information to create a compelling, accurate
and easy-to-understand television weathercast is a must.
Job Responsibilities:
• Weather data analysis and forecasting
• Working knowledge of radar information (able
to interpret and analyze data)
• Producing a wide variety of weather graphics
for self and other meteorologists' use
• Reporting weather on-air
• Reporting weather on all digital platforms,
including social media
• Reporting in the field as assigned
• Recording forecasts for radio station
partners and sports stadiums' Jumbotrons
• Ability to ad lib weather information during
breaking news, long-form weather cut-ins
• Taking cues and direction during on-air
weather reporting
• Ability to stay up to date with the latest
technology and forecasting analysis techniques
• Working as part of a team
• Attending daily editorial meetings
• Keeping news personnel up to date on current
weather conditions
• Work under pressure in a time-sensitive
environment
• Attending Community appearances
Experience
Requirements:
• Three Years
Television News Experience Preferred
• Working Knowledge
of Computer Weather Graphics
• Ability to put
together accurate, informative, creative and easy-to-understand
weathercasts for TV and digital
Qualifications
Requirements:
• Must be able to
work all shifts – holidays and weekends included
Education:
• Degree in Meteorology
• AMS or NWA seal
preferred
