KCCI-TV, Iowa's News Leader, is looking for an Executive Producer to lead its nightside team. The ideal candidate can own breaking news coverage when breaking news happens and, when it doesn't, can still deliver interesting and relevant content to viewers. You must be able to manage, coach, and motivate a team committed to excellence on broadcast and digital platforms. A strong editorial voice, solid news judgment, and an aggressive coverage style are required. You must have the proven ability to make good ethical decisions, a solid producing background, and be able to make those you supervise better.
Job Responsibilities
• Help craft rundowns and approve all scripts for air
• Use graphics and set resources to enhance presentation
• Coach anchors, producers, reporters and photojournalists
• Respond aggressively to breaking news on broadcast and digital
• Look for ways to creatively promote newscast on-air and online
• Pitch topical, relevant, compelling stories
• Line produce when needed
• Post stories on digital platforms
• Lead editorial meetings
• Help recruit, schedule and evaluate producers
Qualifications
• Good news judgment
• Ability to multi-task and coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously
• Creative presentation style, and ability to showcase all resources and elements
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
• Ability to lead and motivate a variety of work groups and personalities
• Above average writing and communication skills
Experience
Requirements
• Minimum of three years producing experience
• Prior management experience preferred
Education
• College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news or related field preferred
• Military training and experience will be considered
