Job Description
Hearst Television, Inc. is looking for a Director of Digital Ad Products, responsible for the oversight of all digital advertising solutions available to a sales organization of 300 , across 32 local television stations. The position's primary function is to provide HTV stations with powerful, differentiated digital solutions for revenue generation, and advertisers with best-in-class performance and service. The Director of Digital Ad Products leads a team of Account Managers and Product Managers in the fulfillment and evolution of our digital platforms, inclusive of traditional display advertising, pre/mid-roll video, native advertising, OTT (Over-the-Top) digital streaming, and more. This position works closely with other departments and divisions within the Hearst Corporation to develop new digital ad products, in addition to managing relationships with numerous third-party vendors – both current and prospective. The Digital Ad Product Director may be required to coordinate technical implementations (e.g. relating to Order Management Systems, ad servers, Data Management Platforms, billing), workflow training for sales and support staff, as well as general marketing and product positioning for seller adoption and success. The position is highly visible to the sales organization, involves frequent hands-on troubleshooting, as well as strategic long-term product development. This position reports to the Vice President of Digital Sales and is located at Hearst Television's New York City headquarters.
Candidate Profile
Hearst Television, Inc. seeks dynamic candidates who possess a strong digital background, preferably with expertise from other digital publishers, digital agencies, and/or related ad platforms. Strong communication skills are a must, with proficiency around written and oral presentation, and an ability to navigate the complex intersections of digital ad tech. Our ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver, and take pride in being extremely well-organized and prepared. A strong work ethic and collaborative style are essential for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure the smooth operation of ad product fulfillment, in conjunction with relevant partners
• Develop and communicate best practices to local and national sales teams
• Troubleshoot issues with individual stations and advertisers as needed
• Identify, evaluate, and launch new partners to grow revenue
• Collaborate with Sales org. on product capabilities, positioning, and external marketing materials
• Compile, analyze, and provide regular reporting to management
• Infrequent business travel required
Key Skills & Competencies
• Ad product development, management, or relevant Digital Sales experience (3 years minimum, 5 years preferred)
• Thorough understanding of digital advertising standards, practices, and technologies (planning, targeting, ad serving, reporting, et al)
• Strong presentation, communication, and analytical skills
• Must be able to multitask, prioritize and delegate
• Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint (or similar) preferred
• College degree preferred
