Sports Designer, Part-Time
We're looking for a detail-oriented and deadline-driven visual journalist to join the San Francisco Chronicle's design team to specialize in sports. This person will primarily work on our Sporting Green print section, though there is potential to work on other sections as well. This position requires night and weekend work, which is when most of the sporting action happens. We're looking for someone who will be nimble on deadline as games come down to the buzzer or roll into extra innings. We're seeking a self-starter with high standards who has excellent communication skills, is comfortable providing and taking feedback, and will work closely with our creative directors to target opportunities for elevated presentations and be proactive in troubleshooting production issues.
Duties:
• Design the daily Sporting Green print section, potentially other sections of the newspaper
• You will work closely with section editors and the photo team to make the most of the day's content
Who we're looking for:
• At least 3 years' newsroom experience, preferably associated with sports coverage
• Bachelor's or master's degree, journalism or design/development focus preferred
• Basic copy editing skills preferred
• Command of the Adobe suite
• Experience with Cue pagination system a plus
Requirements:
• This position is part-time.
• Weekend and evening work will be required.
