Want to sit at the center of the San Francisco news universe, and call the shots on the stories Bay Area residents will be talking about every day?
If you live on Twitter, if your phone is constantly flashing with breaking news alerts, or if you can come up with 10 story ideas on the way to work, SFGATE wants you.

We're looking for a reliable news hound with an ability to spot breaking news, turn a witty headline, and craft the perfect Facebook post. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who's just as comfortable assigning stories as writing them up.
Responsibilities include:
-Overseeing the SFGATE homepage and social channels during two critical shifts per week
-Spotting breaking news and authentic San Francisco stories, and making sure they get up on our site as quickly as possible.
-Manage photos, headlines, and story placement and packaging, all with an eye on SFGATE's unique voice and style.
-Monitor a fire hose of content available to the Gate team to build and constantly rebuild a homepage user experience in synch with the SFGATE brand to deliver on metrics and goals.
Desired skills and experience:
-Innate sense of what clicks and what will be trending soon.
-At least 3 years' experience with news judgment in a fast-moving digital news space.
-Fresh, concise writing voice.
-Intimate knowledge of San Francisco and the Bay Area.
-Team player who works collaboratively.
- A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Creative Writing, Comparative Literature, Communications, or related fields from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position
- You've read SFGATE and have an understanding of the brand and voice
