We are seeking a part-time editorial assistant in Features to compile event listings and other events-related roundups.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Responsible for creating weekly stories that compile entertainment and dining events happening around San Antonio
• Will do some reporting, reaching out to event organizers to gather information, or to clarify information
• On occasion, this position will fill in for Metro Editorial Assistant with more clerical duties
• Must be comfortable with cold-calling sources
• Will search websites for events to include in listings
Competencies/Critical Skills:
• Ability to synthesize disparate information and bring it together in clear and concise writing
• Should be a quick learner and able to follow instructions and follow writing style guidelines
• Must have strong time management skills and must be able to meet deadlines
Experience/Education/Qualifications:
• Previous newsroom experience preferred
• Bachelor degree in Journalism or related field preferred
• Basic computer and typing skills required
