Digital Designer/Developer
Is visual storytelling what fires you up? Is doodling in your sketchbook or wireframing in Figma your happy place? If so, we'd like you to consider joining our San Francisco Chronicle team. We're looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, creative and deadline-driven visual journalist who thrives in the sweet spot between coding and design. Join our design team to help us tell our newsroom's most significant -- and most fun -- stories in sharp digital-first presentations. We want to engage, inform and surprise our readers with innovative storytelling.
While you will primarily create digital designs for our medium and big-swing projects, you may also be tapped to help turn around a breaking news presentation . We have a solid library of templates to draw from, but we are looking for someone with exceptional design skills and enough front-end development knowledge to be able to create bespoke pages as well. Still hold a torch for print design? You would have the opportunity to work on those projects too.
We're looking for a designer with a collaborative spirit to work closely with reporters, editors, developers and our creative directors to elevate our best content. We're seeking a self-starter with high standards who has excellent communication skills, is comfortable providing and taking feedback, and who will showcase the talents of our graphic artists, data reporters, photographers and videographers in their designs.

• Utilize our existing templates for alternative story formats
