Hearst Magazines is looking for a YouTube video strategist to join its editorial insights team and help guide our video teams leading creative efforts across our lifestyle brands' channels, including Cosmopolitan, Harper's BAZAAR, Delish, Elle, Clevver, Seventeen, and more - all of whom reach millions of viewers each week on YouTube.
The ideal candidate is someone who lives and breathes YouTube, is always looking for new and creative ways to improve video storytelling and distribution, knows how to drive audience engagement, and is eager to help us identify what we should try next. This role partners with our head of video and lead producers and offers a unique challenge of working with video content that covers a range of subjects - from today's culture and celeb news to trends in beauty and fashion to reported feature pieces, fitness and health service, product reviews, cool food stuff, and more.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with video teams to plan and optimize schedules across multiple YouTube channels and brands
• Work with the video creators and strategists to monitor discussions and comments across channels, as well as ID and engage new fan bases and communities
• Guide overall optimization of channels, including creating and organizing video playlists, tagging and titling best practices, helping to add custom end cards, and working with design teams to update channel design elements
• Join and guide regular editorial discussion of video strategy, recommendations, programming, and workflow
• Share weekly and monthly YouTube reports for key series and channels to help guide efforts
• Inform and advise on the overall company video strategy by analyzing network-wide YouTube analytics as well as the overall video ecosystem to help drive more engaging and higher-performing content
• Research and identify tent pole subjects for our unique brands, along with content recommendations and insights, to help promote the channel
• Communicate YouTube strategy internally by collaborating with various departments on video strategy, creating and updating company YouTube best practices, and maintaining channel optimization checklists
• Conduct experiments to ID effective new strategies and tracking ongoing audience trends
Requirements:
• At least 3-5 years experience strategizing for YouTube channels, ideally building data-driven video strategies
• Strong working knowledge of YouTube optimization best practices and analytics
• Understanding of digital video and how audiences watch and engage with it across many platforms
• Proven track record of audience growth on other channels
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work on multiple projects and brands at once and collaborate effectively to bring ideas to life
• A lover of good video storytelling
• Bachelor's degree
