West Coast Account Director
Bicycling, the global authority in the sport, seeks a West Coast Account Director to oversee endemic cycling sales for our digital, print, and event platforms. The West Coast Account Director will play a key role in developing new and managing existing advertising relationships within the cycling industry. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for the sport, great relationships, proven sales record, and the desire to be part a high-energy team focused on providing innovative print and digital-first media solutions. There's flexibility on work location for this senior role based on sales experience and track record.
Responsibilities include:
• Lead the sales effort with premium cycling brands (Giant, Trek, Specialized, etc.) while also developing new business
• Report directly to the publisher and work as a team to successfully deliver against digital, print, and event sales goals
• Grow advertising revenue by exceeding weekly/monthly sales call and proposal benchmarks
• Lead a collaborative effort with marketing, edit, e-commerce, production, research, and finance teams to deliver targeted advertising solutions
• Effectively communicate with all stakeholders in the media buying process: owners, brand managers, agencies, and associates
• Develop a proficient understanding of the digital landscape and Hearst Digital Media product offerings
• Develop weekly sales forecasts in order to track progress to goal
• Travel to key accounts, cycling events, and international trade shows
The ideal candidate will possess:
• 4-year college degree
• Passion for riding and the Bicycling brand
• Key industry relationships
• Thorough understanding of our sport and a desire to accelerate a career in media
• Professional presence with strong phone, written, and presentation skills
• Ability to build and maintain great client relationships
• Aptitude for a digital-first approach to media and leveraging data to drive strategic recommendations
• Results-oriented track record with ability to exceed sales goals
• Enjoy being part of a team but willing to think independently and creatively to achieve sales goals
• Ideal candidate will have 5 years of media and cycling industry experience.
• Digital sales/marketing experience and IAB Certification preferred
