Full Time Job
The VP of Editorial Video will own the programming lineup and run day-to-day operations and production across multiple video teams and brands, including but not limited to Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, Seventeen, Men's Health and Women's Health. The person in this position is responsible for the editorial strategy and execution around video and will be the outward facing lead of all things video for Hearst Magazine Media. The position reports in to the Chief Content Officer.
The best candidate will have the ability to look at things from a different angle-
reinvent tired franchises and bring new, unique ideas, and will be a fast-moving creative force who is able to generate fresh and viral video series that engage and build loyal audiences.
In addition, this role will need to provide leadership to the team, oversee efficient production, effortlessly handle tight turnarounds, and collaborate across the larger Hearst landscape.
Qualifications:
• 10 years in video development and production, ideally within a digital media, 5 years in managing a team
• Understanding of and alignment with the Hearst brands
• Demonstrated ability to produce internet-forward/viral video series
• A seemingly endless ability to generate concepts for videos and franchises
• Advanced understanding of post-production workflows and media management
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate multiple teams
• Deep understanding of social video platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Snap Chat and the ability to measure performance through detailed analysis
• Expertise in budgeting and financial reporting
• Strong relationships with key players in the video space, including producers, directors and production companies and talent agencies
• Bonus: A track record of selling though ideas to OTT partners and linear TV
Expectations:
• Oversee development, execution, and delivery of all video products across multiple platforms across multiple brands
• Help teams meet video audience growth goals across platforms
• Develop and maintain external relationships with sales, edit and insights teams to support growth
• Manage Video Teams across brands
• Vision to experiment with formats and storytelling techniques
• Forecast video trends and emerging platforms to meet new video audiences
