Full Time Job
The Good Housekeeping Institute is looking for a motivated, self-starter to join its team as a Testing Analyst and Producer. This role will primarily support the Kitchen Appliances & Technology Lab–which tests and reviews any and all products that come into contact with food, from knives and gadgets to small and large appliances–and optimize product testing for print and digital channels. The ideal candidate is a culinary aficionado; completely obsessed with food, food news, and trends; and is passionate about cooking, tasting, and sharing his/her expertise and advice with consumers. This position reports to Good Housekeeping's GH Institute Director. NOTE: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with salary requirements, writing samples, and a cover letter.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Testing:
• Pitch and execute product tests to support GH Institute in the food space, including idea generation, product sample procurement, and prep for in-lab and consumer testing, getting product samples ready for consumer trials, liaising with PR contacts for images and fact-checking, blinding and sending out products, coordinating consumer testers, prepping and organizing labs, and post-test cleanup
• Assess and test products for the Good Housekeeping Seal or other accolades and awards as needed, working in the GH Seal database
• Follow protocols and create required reports and documentation
Content:
• Write content for all platforms, which could include but isn't limited to product reviews for print and web, feature stories, product roundups, expert advice, video scripts and more
• Strive to find ways to integrate the Good Housekeeping Institute's product testing into the broader news cycle
• Work closely with other GH editors and GH Institute experts to develop product-driven service content across multiple verticals, including tracking trends and news that will lead to high engagement and shares among our audience
• Create food-related how-to videos for GoodHousekeeping.com and other social/digital channels like YouTube with possibility for expanded channel
Brand Promotion and Thought Leadership:
• Be GH's most prominent ''Food Face'' and regularly pitch and appear on TV, radio, social media
• Represent GH at industry events and conferences, locally and nationally, if possible
• Coordinate consumer research projects and surveys in the food space as needed
• Stay abreast of industry trends, current affairs, breaking news, and key conferences/issues and do general outreach
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in a science, research, engineering, or communications
• 3 to 5 years of experience in online journalism and product testing, and strong writing skills
• Passion for news and research, and familiarity with the web's top news sites and blogs
• Deadline-driven, strategic thinking
• Ability to juggle competing tasks and work collaboratively across multiple teams
• Skilled in time- and project-management, and comfortable in a creatively demanding environment that requires meticulous attention to detail
• Obsession with science, technology, consumer products, research methods, data, analytics, story-telling, social media, publishing, trends, and news
• Knowledge of SEO and best practices for optimizing content for the web as well as social and video tools is a plus
