Hearst Magazines Digital Media is looking for a Senior Director, Business Development & Strategic Partnerships to lead our off-platform partnerships team. This person will oversee platform relationships with Amazon Video, YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and many more.
You will be responsible for developing new partnerships as well as growing existing ones with the goal of driving off-platform revenue. You have deep relationships with potential partners in media, technology, OTT, and linear and experience building and growing successful long-term partnerships. You have a very strong understanding of the current media landscape, especially the dynamic between media companies and platforms. You have experience managing a P&L and developing revenue projections of potential deals. This position will report into the Executive Director, Growth & Innovation.
Responsibilities:
• Lead our off-platform content syndication & distribution team responsible for business development, partner management, and product strategy.
• Work with senior management to develop the overall business and revenue strategy for off-platform strategic partnerships, across content library licensing, new content experiences, commerce, shows, and more.
• Lead negotiation and structuring of partnerships, working cross-functionally with other stakeholders.
• Guiding product strategy for content distribution and work alongside our Product & Technology team on execution. developing technology to support business goals.
• Identify potential areas of opportunity to improve partnerships results and work closely with Partner Managers to execute.
• Draft term sheets that overview our key business terms and work with our Legal team on negotiating final terms.
• Develop strong relationships with our partners and ensure that we are always aligned.
• Work with the Partner Operations & Finance team to maintain and track pacing of existing partnerships.
• Work with the management team on modeling out broader business opportunities across business development, M&A, etc.
Requirements:
• 6 years working in digital media, technology, etc.
• Track record of developing, structuring and growing business partnerships that deliver a significant contribution to the success of the business
• Strong negotiation and contract development skills
• Strong relationships at large technology platforms, media companies, and startups.
• Experience in an external-facing role
• Experience managing a large team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, Looker, Chartbeat, etc.
• Knowledge of media landscape, ad tech, traditional media, subscription models, etc.
