Hearst Autos seeks a seasoned Sales Director with expertise in the Automotive and Aftermarket categories, based in Detroit. Responsibilities include selling advertising across all Hearst magazine division brands and media platforms -- digital display, pre-roll, mobile, social, print, etc.
This position will focus on servicing one large automaker (from the ''big three'' in Detroit) across all buying channels in which we transact…from in-market to integrated, yearly upfront commitments to scatter market opportunities. The position requires sales meetings and presentations across all appropriate client and agency decision makers, independent market and industry research & knowledge, as well as creative and thorough follow-up for every call; extensive interaction with agencies and clients to determine key marketing objectives; maintains and grows advertising revenue/new business and share-of-market. Extensive client and agency contacts required.
Ideal candidate must be a cross-channel media expert with a proven track record of success in generating cross-platform advertising sales in a highly technical, and iterative business. Must have strong relationships in the aforementioned categories and be entrepreneurial and idea-driven in approach to generating business, maintain strong agency/client contacts at all levels and have excellent presentation and marketing skills. He/she will have an optimistic, can-do attitude that represents the spirit of the brand.
Responsibilities
-Key to the position is driving revenue across all platforms from print to programmatic
-Consultative Approach: Have a solid understanding of both the auto & media industry and truly understands what OEM's are struggling with and can leverage Hearst Autos collective expertise to solve client problems – from print to programmatic
-Interact extensively with agencies and clients to determine key initiatives for all accounts
-Cross collaboration with marketing, corporate, production, finance etc. within brand unit
-Provide accurate and timely business estimates, forecasts, paperwork/administration
-Keep relevant others informed (management, split partners, group) regarding account status, proposals, personnel changes, etc.
-Innovative Thinking: Understands that finding solutions means experimenting and testing new methods, driven by creating a better experience for colleagues and clients/partners
Requirements
-Candidate must have 10 years of experience in advertising/media sales in the automotive space and must have experience in emerging advertising technology platforms.
-Superior sales skills with results-oriented track record and proven ability to meet/exceed sales goals
-Excellent presentation and organizational skills required
-Extensive list of prior contacts in the sales category required
-Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
-Must be conversant in new technology (digital, social and mobile)
-An individual who works well within a corporate and creative environment
-Demonstrated ability to build positive and collaborative relationships
