Full Time Job
Hearst Digital Media currently has a role for an experienced, creative and dynamic Post Production Supervisor to help expand it's General Video team. Working directly with the Director of Post Production, the Supervisor will help oversee a team that provides core video support for all of Hearst's brands (Men's/Women's Health, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Harper's Bazaar etc) but particularly those at smaller scale.
From the creation of content through editing, color correction and generation of motion graphics, through to training of staff and oversight of our rigorous creative and technical procedures, the right applicant for this role will have an innate understanding of post-production workflow, allowing them to switch gears with ease.
Success in this position requires a unique range of skills and abilities, underpinned by two verticals of responsibility - Organize/Manage & Create/Innovate.
Responsibilities
Organization & Management
• Creation and maintenance of an Airtable spreadsheet allowing cross-brand transparency with a range of functions to improve transparency and efficiency within the group, including the booking of studio space, end-to-end video workflow and scheduling.
• Creation and maintenance of workflow documents, outlining best practice and procedure for video across brands.
• Assist in onboarding of new staff and teams.
• Managing General Video's Post Production calendar, providing accurate time estimates for completion of work and managing stakeholders expectations.
• Liaising with teams across the company to ensure creativity and efficiency in all areas is maximized.
• Training of junior staff in Premiere, Lumetri and DaVinci.
• Assisting in supervision of freelance editors, colorists and motion graphics artists and their work.
• Helping ensure that both for General Video and across brands, production values are maintained creatively and technically, both in the content created and the processes employed to generate it. This would include, but is not limited to typography, color correction, visual effects and motion graphics, as well as metadata and platform optimization.
Create & Innovate
• For high profile projects, liaising with Digital Teams and their designers to help ideate and consult on technical feasibility for edits. Editing in Premiere, color correction in DaVinci (matching looks from print images where required), sound editing and design in Audition, motion graphics and light vfx in After Effects.
• Where appropriate, create Essential Graphics templates for teams to ensure they're on brand and as efficient as possible.
• Staying appraised of new technology, both creative and technical, helping maintain HDM's industry leading slate of brands and shows are created with cutting edge technical to ensure they're as efficient and dynamic as possible.
• Paying close attention to industry trends both technically and creatively to ensure offerings for all brands are fresh.
Experience and Skills Required
• 5 Years in an Agency or Studio environment.
• Deep understanding of current post production standards across platforms - Web, YouTube, Instagram etc.
• Comprehensive knowledge of DaVinci resolve and color correction.
• Thorough understanding of Expressions, for the creation of Essential Graphics templates.
• Mastery of both After Effects and Premiere.
• Advanced understanding of both Photoshop and Illustrator, with a complete understanding of prepping these files for video.
• Broad knowledge of industry standard codecs and compression.
• Ability to think laterally and proactively when problem solving.
• Demonstrable experience in a dynamic post environment, working with multiple projects and teams affording the ability to pivot seamlessly between them when necessary.
• Background in training and managing teams.
• Experience working with a wide variety of formats (commercials, short/long form documentary etc)
• Demonstrable history of transforming and maintaining systems.
