Full Time Job
Hearst Autos is looking for an enterprising, innovative editor to lead the editorial teams of Car and Driver in print and online. This position will report in to the CEO of Hearst Autos and is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Responsibilities:
• Create and embody the vision and purpose of this brand
• Responsible for the content in print and online for Car and Driver in every aspect, from story selection, to voice, to design, to strategy, and video
• Manage an editorial team of 20 people
• Navigate between an enthusiast audience and potential car buyers
• Oversee the budget and participate directly in the business strategy
• Immerse yourself in data to better understand the audience on all platforms and to be responsive to their signals
• Increase the audience on site with a particular eye to growth in reviews and make/model pages
• Maintain or improve the readership in print by being fearless about responding to change and feedback
• Work with the sales teams on native content and advertising opportunities
• Collaborate with other Hearst properties to stay on top of current content trends, share best practices and be a part of the editorial community
Requirements:
• At least 15 years as an editor, with digital and print experience
• Strong interest and background cars and car culture
• Experience managing a team and planning a content strategy
• Good judgment as to what works to drive audience and engagement in digital media
• Must be a collaborator
• Open to experimenting with content types and persistent reinvention to create appropriate content for all audiences
• Bachelor's degree
