Ecommerce Writer, Good Housekeeping
GoodHousekeeping.com is looking for an enthusiastic Commerce Writer with a strong background in SEO and a passion for covering the best deals and products across home, appliances, health, beauty, and parenting for the digital arm of the world's largest women's lifestyle magazine.
This person will work with Hearst's SEO team, commerce team, and the 100-year-old Good Housekeeping Institute experts to write, edit, and produce info-packed and spotlessly accurate content around consumer products, which include everything from ''best of the test'' roundups, product reviews, deals and flash sales on must-have products, first-person testimonials, gift guides, and more.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a strong writer who can parse through lab testing data and write it up in a clear, compelling, and upbeat way for consumers. We're looking for someone with a mix of editorial and analytical skills, who is comfortable identifying growth opportunities and has experience working within or overseeing content-based affiliate operations at a digital media brand.
Responsibilities:
• Write and produce ambitious product-focused content, including both news and service, in a way that is voice-y, highly shareable, and smartly packaged
• Work closely with the Good Housekeeping Institute's experts and other editors to help develop product-driven service content across multiple verticals and be responsive to edits and feedback
• Work with the SEO team, ensuring all content, new and existing, in the Product Reviews section of the site is optimized
• Track performance of commerce content in order to conceive, plan, and execute new areas of growth to increase affiliate commerce revenue
• Stay on top of breaking news, trends, new products, and the latest buzzy stuff happening in the home and lifestyle space
• Assist with top editing freelance and staff-contributed shopping- and product-related stories
• Edit and project-manage copy for product-focused newsletters, videos, and social campaigns as needed
• Work with the photo, design, and video teams to optimize stories with original imagery, graphics, video, and more
Requirements:
• At least 2 years' experience creating women's lifestyle content, preferably at a digital-first outlet
• Familiarity working in a CMS and with analytics tools such as Looker and Google Analytics
• Knowledge of SEO and best practices for optimizing content for the web
• Deadline-driven, strategic thinker with a strong service-journalism sensibility who is willing to push the envelope and bring fresh, innovative ideas to life
• Detail and solutions-oriented, and can turn in clean and concise copy
• An ability to do original reporting and write voice-y first person stories
• An ability to shift gears quickly in a daily web publishing environment
• Experience producing multimedia and/or knowledge of video- or photo-editing platforms a plus
• Bachelor's degree
Note: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in .pdf format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio of work
