We're growing an open, service-oriented platform driven by APIs, and believe in crafting simple, elegant solutions to complex technological and product problems.
We're hiring DevOps Software engineers to help us solve problems, ease the burden of many manual tasks taken on from developers, deploy code and manage operations as we grow our platform. The ideal candidate has experience as a DevOps Engineer or SRE working on large-scale consumer facing platforms, and is a self starter who loves to code and is very strong in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Responsibilities:
• Be part of a DevOps engineering team that focuses on automation and building tools to support the application environment.
• Develop applications which help your fellow engineers do their jobs at a faster pace with less overhead.
• Work closely with development teams to architect and implement applications in a secure and highly available manner
• Provide continued support and uptime of an API-driven, SOA-powered publishing platform/CMS and high-traffic public websites
• Troubleshoot and identify root cause of issues in a complex environment
• Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis
Requirements
• Minimum 3 years professional experience deploying and supporting high traffic, scalable web applications/services
• At least 1 year working in the AWS environment, including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Experience creating automation using AWS SDKs in Python, Ruby, or similar
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration
Desired Qualities:
• Takes initiative to constantly improve individually and as a team member
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug production issues under pressure
• Experience with administering relational databases in a production environment
• Experience architecting and supporting highly available and highly scalable infrastructure
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment best practices and technologies (Jenkins, Travis, etc.)
• Kubernetes experience is a huge plus
Bonus Points for:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
• PostgreSQL
• Python
• Experience with microservice or distributed architectures
• Experience with a content caching solution such as Fastly, Varnish, CloudFront, or Akamai
