CountryLiving.com is looking for a smart, creative, and enthusiastic Deputy Editor to help oversee the site's day-to-day editorial operations. A little background: We're a hands-on team that's addicted to finding viral trends, breaking traffic records, and obsessing over the latest pop culture news-and we have a lot of fun while doing it. CL reaches an average of 15 million users a month, we're most engaged social brand in the HDM portfolio, and we continue to grow at a breakneck pace.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee scheduling, editing and publishing of daily editorial lineup, which includes a mix of breaking news, galleries, and long-form features
• Expand and grow the site's entertainment and news coverage, with an emphasis on TV, movies, and music
• Manage a team of editors across different verticals, developing them and planning with them to produce fun, engaging content (no Chip and Joanna story is too small!)
• Constantly be on top of the news and trends to surface compelling stories that have the potential to go mega viral
• Work with the partnerships and search teams on content creation and traffic strategy
• Monitor analytics daily in order to help grow traffic and engagement across all channels of the site and social platforms
Required Experience:
• At least 7 years writing and editing experience in digital media
• Strong knowledge of SEO best practices and proven ability to grow traffic through search
• Experience editing and managing freelancers and staffers
• Strong grasp (and love) of social media
• A passion for digital news and online trends; previous experience covering women's lifestyles topics
• A keen understanding of performance metrics, including tools such as Google Analytics, Chartbeat, and making daily editorial decisions based on them
