Full Time Job
This is a full time freelance position with the potential to become permanent staff. Hearst Digital Media is seeking an Auto Reviews Assistant Editor for CarandDriver.com. Under the guidance of the Reviews Director and SEO Manager, this role is responsible for creating and repackaging auto reviews and buying guides for online users with little or no auto knowledge who find themselves in the often bewildering process of researching which vehicle to buy or lease. The ideal candidate is a nimble digital content creator who always thinks of the user experience first and capable of crafting both entertaining and informative editorial packages/products that help a diverse and varied user base to make informed purchase decisions. To be clear, the vast majority of this edit work will be re-working and re-packaging reviews already featured on CarandDriver.com but written for auto enthusiasts, not everyday online users. The ideal candidate is also a crackerjack researcher.The role can be based in Pennsylvania, New York, or off-site.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the Reviews Director and SEO Manager to originate, plan, create, and publish product reviews and buying guides as well as related content in line with performance metrics
• Stay abreast of developments, research, and breaking trends in auto and tech space
Qualifications:
• 1-2 years experience researching, reporting, writing or editing content for active lifestyle brands
• An affinity for consumer technology, online commerce, and/or auto
• Must be able to manage feedback from multiple parties and deal with fast-changing priorities
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
• Must be able to work flexible hours as needed
