Full Time Job
As an associate visual editor, you will play a critical role in supervising and elevating the packaging and presentation of all stories published on MensHealth.com and WomensHealth.com. The associate visual editor will also collaborate with the art directors, senior designers, site directors, and executive editors on both sites to maintain stylistic consistency through thoughtful, on-brand photo research and curation, and assist editors with digital-first features and the migration of print content, as well as with other article formats, such as photo galleries and lists.
To be successful, an associate visual editor must have ample experience using Photoshop; day-to-day tasks include (but are not limited to) developing relationships with new photographers, producing still-life shoots with Hearst's Studio D, handling photo credits, ordering hi-res images, creating custom banners for the homepage and thumbnails for YouTube videos, formatting images to fit within gallery templates, and siloing out products for e-commerce posts. The associate visual editor must also be skilled and confident with on-the-spot photo retouching. Basic photography training is a plus.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of professional experience doing similar work at a major consumer magazine or website. Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, self-sufficient and resourceful. Strong communication skills are a must, as well as the ability to be highly collaborative and work independently in a fast-paced environment; ambitious, proactive, and a quick learner. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe InCopy, and Adobe Bridge preferred. NOTE: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with salary requirements and a link to a portfolio of work.
