Full Time Job
Hearst Autos is seeking a creative art director with a love for all aspects of car culture and a deep understanding of enthusiast media to lead the visual language of Road & Track. Based in New York and reporting to the Editor in Chief of Road & Track, this position will work with the Editor in Chief to continually evolve R&T's design. Must be a creative thinker willing to bring fresh, innovative ideas to life and open to experimenting with design and continually changing what is thought of as the norm. Responsibilities:
• Design and art direct all 10 of R&T's annual issues
• Continually tweak and evolve R&T's design to stay fresh
• Travel to shoots to direct photographers to ensure visual storytelling will complement the written word
• Create briefs for photographers to set expectations for every shoot
• Step in as photographer as needed
• Have an innate understanding of the Road & Track brand
• Collaborate with other Hearst properties to stay on top of current content trends, share best practices and be a part of the editorial community
Requirements:
• At least 5 years of professional design experience in digital and print editorial magazine media
• Background in both photography and design desired
• Interest in cars, car culture, and knowledge of R&T's vast history
• Knowledge of what a car enthusiast audience wants to see in print, digital, on video, and beyond
