Sr. Product Manager - Personalization & Discovery (HBO Max)
Location: United States - California - Burbank
The JobThe Sr Product Manager for Discovery & Personalization will take the lead in helping HBO MAX deliver consumer and business value by empowering users to define themselves through our platforms with tools like profiles, content discovery capabilities and social/community extensions. You are an effective cross-functional leader who can drive design, program and engineering teams to uncover, define, and implement product opportunities in the personalization and discovery space, leveraging consumer voice, data, market analysis, and business goals. Strong collaboration, analytical, and design thinking skills are key. You are able to adapt rapidly in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and react quickly, dynamically, and intelligently. You have strong product sense, as well as organizational and problem-solving skills. You are also experienced and comfortable navigating ambiguity and influencing without authority. You know what good looks like.
The Daily
• Create product ''documentation'' including product requirements and use cases, to clearly define the product capabilities, down to a detailed level, accounting for positive and negative paths
• Work tightly with Product Development team and UX/UI teams on requirements and wireframes/design development
• Define the product capability roadmap, and work with Product Development to ensure feasibility and adjust where needed
• Work with peers in Product Experience to ensure alignment with general product requirements and integration into unified roadmap
• Clearly communicate the roadmap at all levels, including specific functionality offered at any given time point, to ensure all understand what a feature means and what the consumer will see
• Help define and articulate longer-term strategies and determine those that need runway of work earlier to achieve timeline targets
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators and make recommendations based on data to improve the product
• Research and analyze emerging trends in the marketplace and keep abreast of the competition to drive product requirements
• Understand and communicate consumer behavior for products and features
• Utilize data-driven decision making for prioritizing product feature backlog
• Cultivate strong relationships among working teams and have exposure to senior leadership.
The Essentials
• 5 years of applied Product Management experience
• Strong understanding of SVOD marketplace and competitive dynamics
• Prior Product Experience with a focus on the digital landscape, including video streaming, content distribution workflows and application development (in Media industry is a plus)
• Be data-driven and have experience with analytic tools
• Have a baseline understanding of the app submission process
• Exceptionally strong communicator, skilled at aligning business leaders and managing shifting priorities
• Ability to simplify complex concepts and provide the right level of detail to executive leaders
• Drive technical communications with strategic partners to help drive internal and external alignment
• Prior experience working within portfolio management systems (ex: Trello, Asana, Confluence) and bug tracking systems (ex: JIRA)
• Proven track record of understanding product growth and developing strategic roadmaps
• Direct experience in detailed planning and prioritization of epics and road mapping feature requests
• High comfort level in analytics and generating business insights from data trends
• Demonstrated ability to create Business Requirements Documents with little oversight
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
• Previous experience digital media product management role and functional knowledge of related technologies (HTML, JS, CSS, iOS, Android, games consoles)
