Full Time Job
The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) is seeking a Programming Associate for the upcoming 2021 edition, taking place October 7-13, 2021. The ideal candidate will have a passion for independent and foreign cinema, excellent administrative and communication skills, and a desire to participate in all aspects of the curation process of a world renowned, Academy-qualifying film festival. The Programming Associate will report to the Artistic Director and serve as a core member of the Programming Team.
This full-time, temporary position will last from June 1 - October 15, 2021 and, due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, will be held remotely until further notice. Should health and safety protocols allow, a temporary relocation to the Hamptons in the weeks prior to the Festival may be needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the curation of films, panels, and programs for the 2021 Festival
- Screen and evaluate submitted and solicited films
- Support the Programming Team with administrative, communication, and organizational tasks
- Help maintain department emails, spreadsheets, documents, and databases
- Assist with the coordination of the Screening Committee and participate in bi-weekly meetings
- Research films relevant to the Festival, and facilitate outreach to film teams
- Develop and maintain relationships with filmmakers and key industry contacts
- Lead the curation of the annual University Short Film Showcase
- Help oversee interns working with the Programming Team
- Communicate with selected filmmakers, and coordinate the receipt of deliverables
- Assist with the writing and production of the Festival Catalogue, and other promotional materials
- Moderate select filmmaker Q&As and conversations
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES
- Passion for film and knowledge of the film industry
- Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, creative, and flexible environment
- Web and computer literacy, including proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs
- Superior organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
- Experience collaborating with and managing a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Detail and deadline-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple simultaneous projects

- Professional, respectful, and friendly demeanor
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree or above
- 2+ years of film industry experience
